page 42 number 1 and 2 for writing and rhetoric

1. The way i would describe peter menzel's pictures to someone who has not seen them is unbelievable. One picture shows a wealthy, middle class family surrounded by food of all sorts. They're sitting around their living room with the floor and coffee table covered in food. They're a family of four 2 kids a wife and a husband and they're Japanese. They're all sitting around looking at the photographer as he takes their picture. The Other photograph shows a family of 6 from the Darfur province of Sudan. They're sitting outside their tent home on a blanket with their food on the blanket in front of them. The area looks like a desert and very hot and the kids and mom look very skinny. The tent is not to big maybe big enough for a family of 4. The crazy thing about the pictures is seeing all the food a small family eats in a week compared to how small a large family eats in that same week. Some specific words i would use to characterize what i see is damn!,wow, really?,hungry, happy, desperate. What stands out to me is each families diverse choices of food. In the mendoza family you see a lot of vegetables, fruits, and very natural healthy stuff. Where as in the Fernandez family there's a lot more pizza, and microwavable stuff and things you can make quick. In the ukita family i can infer the dad has a high paying job and is able to easily maintain his family not only by the food but because of the way they're dressed. I can also tell that a lot of the food they don't need but got more because they can. The mom probably works as well and has a nice job. The Ukita picture suggests a story of struggle from the dad's part to pay for his education when he was young and he spent nights working to pay his tuition but when he finally finished he got a scholarship to graduate school and worked in his field while he payed off the rest of his debts. He met his wife and got happily married after 2 years of going out. The wife comes from a nice middle class family and never had to suffer or struggle to survive. They have 2 kids now and one of them is in a great college in japan studying marketing and the other daughter has 2 years left in high school and plans on majoring in journalism. My appreciation honestly is not affected by faiths writing.

2. The mendoza family is from Guatemala the fernandez family is from the united states. The room in the fernandez picture is dark and elegant the mendoza family is outside with more bright and natural colors. The fernandez family has junk food the mendoza family likes their veggies. There are 5 people in the fernandez family there are 6 in the mendoza family. The mendoza family are dressed in traditional clothing. The fernandez families just plain and regular. A full plate definitly varies in these pictures in the mendoza family a full plate is probably some vegetables rice with some fruit in the fernandez family a full plate is a bunch of stuff piled together. The mendoza family eats more traditional food based on their country and so the the fernandez family. The mendoza family lives in a farm area so they have more fruits and vegetables the fernandez family live in america so all they're going to eat is random easy make stuff. d'aluisios text is more informative when he explains the prices of foods because it really opens your eyes to see what different cultures spend in a week and how they eat their meals.
